How did you discover Disc Golf?
I discovered the sport when some of my coworkers asked me to come out and play a round with them. Throwing a disc was surprisingly harder than it looked at first and it took me a lot of practice to learn. What made me fall in love with the sport was the pure competition and fun that comes with throwing a round. I love progressing and getting better as a player and learning new ways to break down a course or new discs I can throw.
What is your proudest Disc Golf moment?
My proudest disc golf moment is finishing the season above an 800 rating as this is my first year playing disc golf and first year competing in the PDGA.
What are your practice routines?
My current disc golf practice routine is currently starting off with sets of putting from ranges of 15 - 55ft and that normally looks like 4x8 from each range on all 4 sides of the basket. After putting I move to throwing at about 100-200ft with putters on different angle releases. From there I move to 200-300ft and throw midranges and drivers on the same angle releases. Some days I also want to isolate my form and/or test my endurance so I throw into a practice net as well.
What is your go-to tip for beginners?
My go to tip for a beginner that is just looking to have fun is find a single disc that you really like, either because it looks cool or flies nice, and really hone in your ability to throw that disc on different lines and get comfortable.
My go to tip for a beginner on the competitive side of disc golf, I would say practice your putting everyday. Putting is the biggest part of this sport that is missed by new players that want to just show off and throw far. Making the putts more consistently will keep your score down and make up for the bad throws that you will have.

Comment: "I absolutely love the Huia disc and there is 2 main reasons why. The first reason being that the disc itself is an absolute staple in my bag as a stable 7 speed that I can torque on in both forehands and backhands. The reliability of the disc and its ability to never burn over for me allows me to have a consistent shot shape. The second reason being that my last name is 'Tuia' and the disc is named 'Huia', which is very close to my last name and fun that way. The 'Tui' disc is also close to my lat name as it is only missing one letter also."
