How did you discover Disc Golf?

I was given a starter set before we all went into lockdown and I started watching old Jomez coverage while I was waiting to get out again. When I could start getting out to courses I got to learn a new skill, and meet some new people. Seeing my distances go up as I got better was electric, I still remember the first time I threw 100m, it was with my first Pekapeka. As well as the physical side, I've really enjoyed the process of building a bag since I used to play TCGs, trying new discs and finding the right one that fits my game has been fun.

What is your proudest Disc Golf moment?

In 2023 I played a couple of tournaments in MA4 and had fun, I decided to really push in 2024 to get better and get competitive. In April of 2024 I got a win in my first time playing MA2.

What are your practice routines?

I play two rounds a week: normally one by myself so I can try different shots and discs, practice long or awkward putts that I find myself in, and just enjoy playing without time restraints or worrying about other people; the second is normally with some friends or as part of a social doubles/league event. I also have a practice basket at home and try to get some putting practice in three days a week, I've never really taken my time putting so now I'm focussing on slowing down and starting to build a putting routine.

What is your go-to tip for beginners?

Playing with better people will help you get better. Ask questions, watch what they do, and try to figure out how you can apply that to your game.

Favourite Disc

Plastic Type: Magma
Comment: "I keep three Kotukus in my bag at all times. I was looking for a stable midrange that was comfortable in my hand and the Kotuku was it, it was the first disc that locked a spot in bag and now I don't even bother trying out new stable mids. I always bag two in Magma plastic, one fresh and one that's well beaten in with a premium one if I'm looking for more bite. If you're looking for a reliable midrange that will stay in the bag as you start throwing further, try a Magma Kotuku."
