Disc Golf Career

Started Disc Golf in 2022

How did you discover Disc Golf?

Later in life, I decided to attend a degree program in the state of Tennessee. While I was there, I came across a park that had a rusted pin. I had no idea what it was for and summed it up to a children's game. I didn't think anything of it until I finished my degree and moved back to my home state of New York. Fast forward a couple of years, and I met someone on Facebook who was an avid player. I recall talking to them about that memory from Tennessee. It just so happened that I was looking for a competitive sport that incorporated my passion for being in the outdoors. My new friend soon became my partner and he started introducing me to disc golf. I would support him in tournaments and caddie at times. I met so many wonderful people and the camaraderie and passion that everyone had drew me in immediately. I was intimidated at first, but found myself in a nearby school yard trying to throw drives with a few discs that I knew little about. Between that and being exposed to a lot of digital content, I finally felt like this was a sport and community I was ready to partake in. I finally mustered up the courage to become a PDGA member and enter my first tournament only a few months into throwing my first disc.

What is your proudest Disc Golf moment?

My proudest moment in disc golf was when I played Fun in the Sun in July of 2024 at Stephen P. Wallace Park in Voorheesville, New York. It was my first time participating in an all women's clinic and tournament which was directed by one of our local top pros. I tied for first place in my division, but lost in the playoff. It was one of my highest rated performances and I absolutely love crushing my own records.

What are your practice routines?

For practice, I have a school field not far from my home that's open to the public. I either bring a pin with me or a traffic cone for aim. Right now, I'm heavily focused on throwing further and honing a technique that works for me. I'm still learning. During the off season, I participate in a weekly semi-indoor putting league and practice outside when the weather permits.

What is your go-to tip for beginners?

Just have fun, learn what works for you, and the rest will follow!

Plastic Type: Magma
Comment: "The Tui was the initial disc I tried from RPM when I felt other plastics I was using for putting were no longer working for me. I felt confident with it in my hand and it had a lasting impression. It has improved my accuracy in the most organic way possible. I can't keep them out of my bag!"
