When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?
Covid-19 lockdown in September 2021 – I was on a new running route through my local park and saw a couple playing disc golf and thought to myself ‘ooo that’s got to be better than running’. Hint: it is, by a mile.
What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?
Huia, the GOAT of all RPM discs. It’s been in my bag since I first started playing and it’s super reliable for forehands. The flex forehand shot with the Huia is just so nice to watch.
Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?
Imagine every putt is for the win in a playoff – it ensures I do my routine, gives me a bit of a competitive mentality, and has helped my approach and execution of those pressure putts in real tournaments.
What are your goals for the current season?
Reach and maintain a rating of at least 850, place in the top 3 of every comp I play, and hopefully defend my Australian FA1 National title in November 2023.
Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?
Winning the 2022 Australian Championships for the FA1 division. I played my first ever FA1 comp in April 2022 and came dead last, so becoming the FA1 champ in November 2022 against a strong field was unexpected, but very rewarding.
What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?
Australian 2022 Championships – I finished each round tied for the lead, including the final round. I managed to win in a playoff against my fierce competitor and friend Kairi Koobakene, which was nerve wracking, but also exhilarating. It was nice to get the win after 3 days of super tight competition.
What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?
Just go for it, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?
Maple Hill with 3 of my best mates, Cassie Sweetten, Tim Wright, and Benn Kennedy.
