Forget all of your previous shots or upcoming shots. The only thing that matters is the current shot. The mental game is crucial and you need to stay positive.

When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?
I started playing disc golf when my oldest brother went to college and started playing. At that point it was just playing with my family and it was a great activity for us to spend time together playing super casually. That is when I first found the joy of disc golf and how much fun it can be playing with friends and family. I slowed down on playing until after I finished college. I started playing a lot of ultimate frisbee and that turned into playing a lot more disc golf. At that point, I started learning how different discs fly completely different, especially between two different people. That learning process was a lot of fun and I really started to enjoy that aspect of the game. Other than all of that, disc golf is an opportunity for me to get out of the house and into nature. That helps me to relax, decompress, and just enjoy the outdoors being away from everything. That is why I truly love the game, no matter how good or bad I am playing.
What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?
That is a hard question to answer as my favorite RPM disc has always been the Ruru, but I think it is now the Kea. I picked up a Strata Kea last year and I loved how it felt and flew with a very consistent fade. This disc is so reliable for approach and short drives.
Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?
I don’t currently have any practice routines. I do have a practice basket in the back yard that I use occasionally by starting at a confortable putting distance and slowly moving backwards to gain confidence. I am hoping to start doing some field work to understand my discs more to become more consistent.
What are your goals for the current season?
My main goal for this season is to increase my consistency and get above 900 rating. Last year I had some poor consistency that has been hurting my tournament placements and rating. I really want to just get consistent in my game.
Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?
I think one of my proudest moments in disc golf was when I was still playing casually with my family. We played a full round and my dad tallied the score and decided my oldest brother and I were tied and had to do a playoff on hole 1 to see who won. I threw first and threw the first ace of my life. It was incredible and felt so good. Turns out after the fact that my dad counted wrong and I wasn’t supposed to be playing off at all but my other two brothers were.
What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?
I think of of the most memorable disc golf battle I have seen (via Youtube and Jomez) was the 2021 world championships. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time watching Paul Mcbeth and James Conrad play. I felt like every hole was just an incredible play or putt after every hole. I had to keep pausing and telling my wife what happened. It was awesome.
What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?
I think my tip for disc golf beginners is to find what works for you. Sometimes people will push beginners to throw a disc or throw a specific way, but throw how it works for you. Do what gives you joy in disc golf, even if it is only throwing overhand or scoobers. Along with that, distance isn’t all that matters. Only throw midrange and putters for a while until you learn how to throw drivers.
If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?
I have never thought of a specific course I wanted to play so bad, as I will play anywhere. So I would say I want to play at any course I haven’t played yet (preferably somewhere far away from where I am like overseas) and I would play with my daughter (Ariel), my wife (Lisa), and my dad (Clent).
