Year Started Disc Golf
When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?
I went out with a friend who played after he had explained it to me at work. I remember specifically throwing a red VIP Westside discs King and a Rhyno(just what he had extra in his car) and about 4 holes in I was hooked. I went and bought my 1st three discs the very next day at a local shop and ordered a trilogy challenge starter pack online.
What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?
My favorite mold is a tie currently. I've been loving my Glow Pekapeka on backhand and forehand. It's an absolute laser, I have also been really enjoying the Glow Tui for all sorts of shots and approaches.
Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?
I have been working on doing mindful practice rounds and building a gameplan for all tournaments I play in. This has been especially helpful in making sure I stay focused and knowing what I need to do to tackle the course
What are your goals for the current season?
As a player I'd like to advance to MA1 and increase my rating from 905 to around 915-920. I'd also like to get my 2nd career win(Goal achieved 4/22/23!!!). I am also looking to run 2 sanctioned events for sure with the possibility of more through my local club and a couple of clinics for beginner players.
Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?
My first win. I felt immense pride, happiness, and was proud to see my hard work pay off in that moment. I was extremely nervous on the final hole even though I had an 8 stroke lead on the rest of the field. The smile that I was left with didn't leave my face for days.
What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?
I was at DGLO this past summer and it was an absolutely electric atmosphere when Calvin Heimburg and Corey Ellis pushed into a playoff. I was at the top of the hill waiting in line for autographs and I remember reaching my hand out to fist bump Calvin which he did. He was then able to take down the win and the crowd went wild all over the course. Super amazing thing to experience at my first pro tour event.
What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?
I feel like a lot of beginner players are concerned with their performance so I'd have to say, Don't worry about how bad you're doing or what you may be doing wrong and just enjoy your time on the course. Have fun!
If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?
I'd have to say either Maple Hill or Toboggan. Picking 3 people is very tough but I'd bring along my best friend Scott Sherwood, my twin brother Charles, and my friend Al Carroll that got me into the sport in the first place!
Fun Fact: I'm an identical twin | Favorite Color: Purple | Favorite non RPM mold: DD Felon | Favorite Pros: Eric Oakley, Ricky Wysocki, Simon Lizotte, Kristin Tatar, and Paige Shue
