When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?
The first time I ever played disc golf was with my father as a young child. He played competitively around the time I was born, so when I was old enough he would take me out onto the course with him whenever he went. I was an impatient kid, sadly, I never wanted to put the time in to learn how to throw properly, so it never stuck with me at the time. It wasn't until I came along with my friends one day in 2020 that I was really hooked on the sport. I started later than all of them, so I had a reason to get better and have a good time while doing it. I had never played any disc-related sports seriously enough to learn how to throw, so the process was completely new and unique to me, I was hooked!
What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?
Right now my favorite RPM disc is the Kea in atomic plastic. I only had to hold the disc once to know it would be a staple in my bag, and after throwing it, there was no question. The extra groove on the top of the rim makes for a perfect fit on a sidearm grip, and the grippy atomic plastic makes backhands feel buttery smooth.
Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?
I like to put most of my practice hours on the putting green, because regardless of how well I’m throwing, putting is where strokes are gained the most at earlier stages in your career. Most of my field work comes in the form of multiple tee shots when at the course, and trying different angles for the same hole off the tee.
What are your goals for the current season?
My goals for 2023 are to become an even larger part of my local community, while also surpassing a 900 rating and moving up to the intermediate and advanced levels. I would also like to branch out to the Dayton, OH scene this season and meet some players up there!
Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?
My proudest disc golf moment was when I secured my first ever ace in the “Burnet Woods” 2022 tournament. Though I didn’t end up winning, with the ace I was able to shoot the hot round by 2 strokes at -7 and have a lead going into the second round.
What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?
Watching Kyle Klein take down Andrew Marwede in person at the 2021 Idlewild Open
What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?
Find a couple discs that work best for you and stick with them. Being able to do multiple things with one disc can take you a long way. If you're playing competitive, take your time on EVERY shot!
If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?
The Fort in Ogden, Utah, one of my favorite stops on the pro tour. I would take my Dad, my little cousin and my girlfriend, the person who first introduced me to disc golf, and two that I have introduced the game to.
