Year Started Disc Golf
When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?
A random ad for my local retailer during lockdown reminded me of how cool the video of Philo's albatross was, like 4 years earlier. Got a starter set and I was hooked from the day I showed up for my first tournament, under-prepared and over-enthused.
What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?
I would have said my Cosmic Orange Ruru forever, but right now, I think my red Magma Soft Kea is my fave. It's bent out of shape from belting a tree, but I can work it for just about any approach, and it sticks when it hits the deck.
Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?
Nothing specific, just lots of field work. A footy ground across the road, and 3 kids at home means emptying the bag for 20 mins is easier that getting to the course. Oh, and lots of putting in the back yard - always end with a 3 from 3.
What are your goals for the current season?
A win in MA3, 850 rating, shooting a 900 round, and having a 900-rated tournament.
Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?
Being awarded the Spirit Award at the WA Open 2023.
What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?
What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?
Buy a 12 speed and try to throw it 400 feet, because it's super fun. Then forget everything you've been doing, re-learn to throw with a putter, and work on your short game.
If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?
Joey, Jake, and Mark at Pine Lines in WA
