When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?
I discovered that there was a course just 1o minutes from home in early 2019 and Sarah & I decided to take the kids there for a bit of fun with some standard catch frisbees. Then in 2021, I found Jomez Pro YouTube channel and realised there were proper discs that allowed you to throw so far and from there I grabbed a RPM beginner set from Local Discs in Brisbane and I have loved the sport since.
What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?
Has to be my Huia in Cosmic plastic. It's just such a reliable stable fairway driver regardless of the conditions and it just feels so good in the hand.
Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?
Improving the consistency of my form and release angle has been the main focus over the last few months. I use a park that's a short walk from home to do field work a couple of times a week.
What are your goals for the current season?
To improve my play so that I can be consistently shooting rounds in the mid to high 800's to enable me to be competitive within the MA40 division here in Australia.
Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?
In September 2022, I shot a 851 Metrix rated round at the Pine Rivers Course League taking out the Handicap Win.
What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?
Definitely being able watch Scott Stokely absolutely crush drives at Tunnel Ridge during the 2022 Australian Championships was definitely one of the most memorable disc golf experiences I have had in my short time in the sport.
What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?
Grab yourself a starter set and start by throwing the putter off the tee and keep throwing the putter until you can consistently throw it on a full flight path, then move up to throwing a midrange and slowly work up to the faster discs.
If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?
It would have to be Maple Hill. If I could take anyone, I would take my wife, Sarah of course, as well as Michael Caulfield, he's doing so much to promote disc golf as President of the Brisbane Disc Golf Club and on top of that he's a top bloke, and thirdly I'd take Jason Vidot, he been fantastic at guidonig me in the realm of the Tournament Directing and on top of that he's taught me so much about the sport and the history of disc golf in Australia.
