Anything can happen on the course, and when it does and alters your well laid-out plans, you must adapt to your current situation and execute your best option from there. In the words of the greatest athlete of all time… “Be like water” – Bruce Lee
Year Started Disc Golf
When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?
I always liked throwing frisbees as a child, so in the mid 70’s I went to the library to look for frisbee books, and found one that described all the frisbee sports (ultimate, freestyle, self-caught flight, guts, accuracy, and golf), so I went home and started laying out holes around the neighbourhood (around the telephone pole and hit the stop sign). Loved it right away, but was scratching up my frisbees on the road, so laid out some holes in the nearest park. Never competed or threw an actual golf disc until the early 90’s.
What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?
Piwakawaka, not only does it have the best name of any disc past, present, and future, but it glides so long and makes those long subtle anhyzers even sexier!
Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?
Not lately, but I do believe it’s about time to incorporate some again, specifically putting and driving, and upshots.
What are your goals for the current season?
To beat Simon and Jacko, and improve my rating.
Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?
Parking the old hole 10 at the Lost Egg, Wayne, Alberta, Canada
What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?
The 2014 Portland World’s playoff with McBeth and Wysocki… they drained every single pressure putt!
What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?
First, master throwing a putter. When you can throw it straight, make it curve left, and make it curve right, then move up to a midrange and do the same. When you’ve mastered the midrange then move up to a driver.
If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?
I’d like to play the USDGC course and see how it compares to Bella Rakha, so would like Bella’s designer there as well, along with Ken Climo and Barry Schultz.
