When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?

My dad is all about disc golf, so naturally when I was born he put a mini disc in my hand. My sister and I would play junior tournaments when we were young, I won a couple, and then after taking a break from the sport I am coming back into it in order to spend time with my dad and to give my body a new sense of balance and coordination. I love the feeling of satori when everything just works and the energy conversion and follow-through happens perfectly!

What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?

The Tui. This disc is so reliable. I love to putt with it (have made my fair share of 20 meter putts with it hehe). I also love to drive with it because there is less chance of it going astray into the thick bush haha

Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?

Always stretch before throwing. Loosen up my arms, back, wrists, and torso. I always do a couple mock throws before actually releasing the disc. Otherwise I do field practice with dad.

What are your goals for the current season?

Release the disc when I want to! Often I throw with great power but release the disc the wrong direction. Whoops.

Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?

Sadly I can’t say I’ve gotten an ace yet, but I’ve made a 25-30 meter putt with great form and I was stoked with it. That I was very proud of (thankfully there were witnesses too! haha)

What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?

I haven’t witnessed so many battles, but I have seen some sick aces done by peers. I do like to watch tournaments on the PDGA website and keep up with how people do each round. Nationals in 2022 was a big one, I was so invested, especially since Levi, dad (Simon) and Jacko would all be competing in the MPO.

What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?

Achieving a powerful through isn’t all about arm strength, it’s about follow-through and proper energy conversion. Guide your arm with your body, not your body with your arm. At least, that’s what’s been working for me so far 🙂
It’s also good to start off by throwing a straight disc, like a Ruru.

If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?

I’ve heard so much about Paradise in the South Island. I would love to go there with dad, my partner, and hopefully convince my sister to have a throw too.
