How did you discover Disc Golf?

Before the pandemic I was playing pickup basketball at Gonzaga University 3+ times a week. Then we went into lockdown, and I needed a safe athletic outlet. I tried a few things, but after I tried disc golf there was no need to keep looking. I quickly fell in love with the flight of the disc, the comradery of playing with people, and the competitiveness of succeeding.

What is your proudest Disc Golf moment?

My proudest Disc Golf moment is this past year when I was the Tournament Director for my second ever event, the Sekani Scorcher. It was my second event back from injury, and I my time was occupied with throwing the event. The event went off without a hitch, challenged players, was very fun, and I fought back from chase card to take 2nd place in the final round. To pull off a successful event, that was a lot of fun, and to play well. Well, there isn't much like that feeling.

What are your practice routines?

Usually I pick a skill I'm working on. Lately that's been hyzer flipping putters at short distances. I collect 5 - 8 discs that will help me practice that skills and I go out to a field or open course. I put on a audiobook, and practice that skill for about an hour with variations between each set of throws.

What is your go-to tip for beginners?

Do what is fun to you. If that is being competitive and getting better, then don't be afraid to ask for advice or help. Most disc golfers want to share more than you could ever want to know. Or, like me, it's never enough knowledge.

Comment: "Last year at the 2023 Shelly Sharpe Memorial I saw a bunch of Discraft players throwing Captain's Raptors on short range approach shots that I was using a putter for. When I got back home I picked up a Captain's Raptor to try it out, but it wasn't quite as overstable of a disc as I was hoping for. About a month later I got sponsored by RPM and started learning the new RPM plastic I was trying out. Quickly I found out that the Kiwi is exactly what I was looking for. You throw it with any height, it starts fading, tilts, and falls directly out of the air. It turned backhand hyzers into backhand grenades and I immediately fell in love. "

"My friends would ask me, how many birdies did you get that round? I'd say 6 or 7. They'd ask, so what did you finish at? I'd say 6 or 7. Why are you taking bogeys?" - Sias Elmore, 2022 Beaver State Fling
