How did you discover Disc Golf?

I started playing Ultimate in 2003. I came across disc golf in around 2005, and dabbled on and off following, mostly throwing Ultrastars at trees as we had no courses. Like many Ultimate players, as my body wore out I found the permanent disc golf course in Townsville, and my love for disc golf quickly grew, primarly as I love watching the flight of different discs and shapes.

What is your proudest Disc Golf moment?

My proudest moment is probably winning the first proper tournament that I entered, the 2021 Queensland Open in MA4. I was arguably in the wrong division (having never played a tournament before), but was still good to validate the skills that I had developed against my peers. More recently, I am very happy with a top 5 finish at the 2023 Australian Championships in MP40 division to cash and acheive Professional status.

What are your practice routines?

One typical practice routine I use is to pick a distance and throw several discs at a basket. The key to this routine is to make sure to putt out each attempted throw, one putter at each mark.

What is your go-to tip for beginners?

Don't go straight to drivers. Stick with something 7-9 as your fastest disc, and work on form. You will know when it is time to upgrade.

Comment: "There is not a lot you can't do with an Atomic Tui. From putting to short turnovers to 100m drives that go dead straight, the Tui is a stable in my bag."
