Jenny’s comments on the tournaments:
“August was a wonderful month for touring. I traveled to some of my favorite places in the country for disc golf. The Silver Creek Open in Manitowoc, Wisconsin is absolutely beautiful. Right on the water with the iconic lighthouse hole right on lake Michigan. We arrived very early to take in some much needed beach time and lots of practice. We played two courses, one more open and one that was extremely wooded. I quickly felt very much at home in the woods which gave me an early lead and from there I stayed focused and finished the tournament in FPO with a 32 stroke difference between 2nd place and myself. The biggest work horse for me for the weekend was my cosmic Pekapeka. I love that disc for wooded golf, perfect for hitting beautiful straight lines.
Our next stop was the Cedar Creek Open in Minnesota, which is yet another wooded and tight fairway type of courses. We only got to practice each course once when I feel I could have benefited from a few more rounds on the courses. I came out confident after the first round but lost a bit of focus the last two rounds and ended up in 3rd place. Once again the Pekapeka was by far the most used disc in my bag as it helped my scramble game so much.
Our last stop in August was in Kansas City for the Kansas City Wide Open. The people in KC know how to throw a fantastic tournament. I unfortunately rolled my ankle pretty badly only 9 holes into my first round. From there my only thought was to get par and get to some ice. By the time I got back to the house I couldn’t put weight on it. After a ton of ice and some help from a injury specialist, I woke up to an ankle I could at least stand on. Getting through round two was hard but I was in the top 3 out of 10 of us and didn’t want to quit. By day 3 I was just happy to be there, stoked I didn’t have to drop and just maintained a calm demeanor throughout the round. It came down to the final hole 18, there was a 3 way tie between myself, Dez Redding and Kim Giannola. I took out my 168 Kahu XG and threw it straight down the middle. The other ladies got off the fairway a bit and I knew if I just kept it in the middle I would give myself a chance at my 2nd A-tier win this season. After a Kea sidearm upshot, I had a tap in for the win.
This season was filled with fun, traveling in an RV for the first time and getting to see new places I didn’t get to explore last year. My biggest goal this year was to cash at every event which I cashed at 13 out of the 16 I played (I still have 5 more) so I feel pretty good about that. Thank you to RPM for your support and keep throwing those birds!!“
Congrats on behalf of RPM Discs for such a great season of Disc Golf, Jenny! Keep it up 🙂
