Jake Anderson has achieved the impressive feat of competing at the most tournaments out of all members of Team RPM. Currently with still 3 months left in this Disc Golf season, Jake has already played 41 MPO division tournaments, and he isn’t slowing down. Last August, Jake competed 5 tournaments and placed top 5 in three of them. In the Smokin Aces at Sioux MPO division, Jake took first place shooting 12 under par. His next win was claimed the Carrollton BA 2 one round event, where he shot one under par. On August the 20th, Jake then competed at the Meramec Meltdown tournament to place second with 14 under par.

Jake’s comments on the tournaments:

“Two of the most memorable moments in my August tournaments would be the chance to push to two playoffs. I was able to take down one of the playoff rounds, and the other we battled to the 6th hole. These were my first playoff experiences. Though, I hope I never find myself in a playoff again. I now know what it takes to play matchplay in these circumstances.

A challenge I faced was my self-doubt. I have been struggling this year to find my game when the chips seem stacked against me. In a round you might miss a gimme putt or pull a drive. These shots cause you to think “will this happen again”… The answer is that they most likely will, but in order to overcome you need to trust in your mechanics and the hours of practice you have put in. All you have to do at that point is concentrate on the shot in front of you and fully commit to your shots. Most of these rounds my trust lied with my beat up Atomic Kea, Atomic Takapu, Cosmic Kotare, and Atomic Pekapeka (Mint Green)

My favourite role was a toss up between hole 17 at Willmore park St. Louis MO or Hole 16 at Sioux Passage Florissant, MO: Hole 17 at Willmore park is a par 4 563ft that challenges you to make a decision off the tee on how much distance you are trying to tackle. If you throw a good tee shot you will have an uphill low ceiling approach shot to a green that has OB 30ft from the basket on the back side. The upshot is all about speed control. Sioux Passage hole 16 par 4 604ft on the other hand is a bit of a top of the world shot. You have a fairway that is about 100ft wide that sways from left to right, and the fairway sits about 50ft below you (also there is always wind). I love this shot because if you have the power and want to go for it you can get an eagle.

I am always looking for a tournament to test my skills and to see if I can perform at my best. I use Disc Golf Scene to find any and all tournaments I play in. Some of the best moments in the tournaments were the great players I was able to compete against.”

Congratulations Jake on your wins! Eagering awaiting to see how you finish out this season as we approach December. Awesome work πŸ™‚
