How did you discover Disc Golf?
I bought an Innova starter set several years ago and used it two or three times. After a few years of collecting dust in my garage, I took them out again when my friends mentioned they started playing. I played a horrible round, but I wanted to do better. I started researching different discs (which was a big part of the fun) and slowly added new discs to my bag.
I love all of the different shot shapes that every disc is capable of. I love the feeling of satisfaction when I throw a drive that has a beautiful s-curve and it goes exactly where I want it to go.
What is your proudest Disc Golf moment?
I used the Pekapeka on a long, downhill hole that had a pretty low ceiling. It was my first attempt at a roller in a tournament, and it worked very well. It rolled a lot further than I expected and set me up for a birdie.
What are your practice routines?
When I practice putting I will set up a marker at 15 feet and every 5 feet after that until 30 feet. I putt three times. If I make all three, I move back. If I make two, I stay where I am. If I make one, I move closer to the basket. If I miss all three, I start over. I will sometimes grab 10 putters instead and stand at 20 feet, putting until I make 100 putts.
I have a stand-alone net that I throw drives into. I will set up a camera and film myself, taking note of what needs work.
What is your go-to tip for beginners?
Don't try to ace or birdie every hole. Sometimes you need to pick a landing zone and hit that before you worry about going for the basket.

Comment: "This is such a versatile disc for me. I mainly use it for drives; it flies super straight with such a gentle fade, and gave me an ace the first time I threw it off the tee. As a putter, it excels in windy conditions. I don't feel I have to change anything about my putting technique when using the Takapu in the wind. "
