How did you discover Disc Golf?

I started playing Disc Golf in college at UCF in Orlando FL. Our campus had a course and after a hilariously bad round with some lids from a big box store I bought my first Disc Golf discs at the campus book store and haven't stopped playing sense. What really has stoked my love of the sport is my passion for playing new courses as I travel. Each course is unique and disc golf has been my reason to travel to lots of off the beaten path locations I normally would not have gone. It started as a desire to play as many as I could for experience before designing a course to now I'm what we would call a Course Bagger as I try to play them all. I'm currently in an exciting push to reach my 1000th course played by the end of the year. I'm hoping this will coincide with a planned trip to New Zealand as I feel it would be a fitting location for this kind of personal milestone.

What is your proudest Disc Golf moment?

My proudest Disc Golf moment is fortunately an on going one. In 2007 I designed my first course at White Bank Park in Colonial Heights Va. The gratification of designing and installing this course and then seeing its growth within the community over the last 18 years has been amazing. I still work with the city to help maintain the course and run a weekly/league there and every time I see a new face play the course it brings me such joy to know my efforts are being enjoyed by so many.

What are your practice routines?

My routine is to try and play once a week. Running a weekly/league from April to August has helped a lot as the muscle memory and conditioning is noticeable from years in the past when I didn't play weekly.

What is your go-to tip for beginners?

Don't worry about the score and stick with it. There are a lot of factors at play from form to disc selection and you might not have the right combo your first couple times out. Don't feel pressured out of trying lower speed disks to start and then progressing into higher speed discs.

Favourite Disc

Plastic Type: Cosmic
Comment: "The Pekapeka is the disc that allowed me to switch my bag completely over to RPM. It is so versatile and I have different stability/beat in levels in my bag that I could throw it for almost anything. It is great in all plastics, but I chose Cosmic because my favorite one in my bag is a orange 1st Run Cosmic that I have an ace on. "
