Disc Golf Career

Started Disc Golf in 2007

How did you discover Disc Golf?

My brother moved away from college, and he found disc golf. My family all started playing to spend time together. After a lull for a few years and playing ultimate competitively in college, I found disc golf again. It is just great to get outside and spend some time with friends and family.

What is your proudest Disc Golf moment?

Back when I played very casually with my family, I finished a round and was tied with my brother. We did a playoff hole and I aced it. It felt incredible. Come to find out, my dad counted wrong, and I shouldn't have been in the playoff.

What are your practice routines?

I always make sure I do full dynamic stretches before doing anything. I make sure my hips, shoulders, and back are loose and warm.

What is your go-to tip for beginners?

Don't try to throw hard or try to throw as far as some experienced player. Learn what you can consistently do and aim for consistency, not distance. If the basket is farther than you can accurately throw, aim for something short of the basket at your distance. Consistency is more important than distance.

Favourite Disc

Plastic Type: Atomic
Comment: "The Kea is just so useful of a disc. Magma soft is great for approach and sits where you put it. Atomic and cosmic are great off the tee box for a consistent fade. The strata plastic gives me a straight to understable flight. There are so many uses for the one disc. It also just feels great and hearing the whistle when you throw it is always a joy."
