When/how did you discover disc golf and knew you absolutely loved it?
I stumbled across a YouTube video that featured 2019 Worlds. The next day at work, I showed my friend and we were instantly interested on the idea. After work that day, we went to the store and bought a starter pack and started throwing in a local baseball field. Instantly we knew Disc Golf was going to be a hobby that we weren't going to be able to shake off!
What’s your favourite RPM Disc in your bag right now and why?
Tui! So much glide and an incredible throwing putter.
Do you have any practice routines? If so, what are they?
I have a practice bag in the back of my car everywhere I go. I have 10 putters, 10 mids, 5 fairways and 5 drivers. I take them to the local park and throw them to the end of the field and back, filming my swing so I can review my form in real time.
What are your goals for the current season?
My original goal was more of a competitiveness drive to win everything I play in. While that is still the end goal my way of getting there has definitely changed. This year has been the year that I have decided to focus more on the enjoyment of having a fun weekend with friends and meeting new people in the sport. While I do strive to win every tournament I sign up to, I make sure to stop and smell the roses a little more on my trips.
Do you have a proudest disc golf moment?
I remember taking a co-worker to the local disc golf course to introduce him to the sport. Its a small but technical course that was a great introduction for him. On the 4th hole (only around 200ft) I hit an ace and his reaction and excitement of that was awesome. He left the course and gathered up any discs he could so he could try to recreate that feeling for himself. Awesome to see.
What is the most memorable disc golf battle you’ve experienced/witnessed?
During a 2 round tournament at an unfamiliar course, I found myself down by 5 after the first round. This made the second round easier in a sense, as I told myself I was out of contention for first. It wasnt until I found myself -9 through the first 14 holes and someone on the card mentioned that I had caught up the pack. Stepping up on the next tee ( which the hole is iconic on this course) I hit an ace! I went on to shoot -14 that round and win by 2. Great memory to have and share.
What is your go to tip for disc golf beginners?
Field work will build great habits. If you only use rounds to practice, it will only solidify bad habits.
If you could play any course in the world and bring along any 3 disc golf friends, where and who would it be?
Øverås Diskgolfpark. I saw this course on coverage the past couple years, and as the course is amazing-the surrounding views are amazing. I would bring along Tyler, Luke and Ryan- all great friends.
