I’m a 15 year old from Ohio in the USA. I joined Team RPM Tribe in June of this year. I’ve completely fallen in love with the brand and the discs they make. Their discs are some of the best I’ve ever used. This year I have won 8 events in total and I’ve only missed the top 10 four times in the MA3 division. My current rating is 896 and I’m hoping to hit 900 by the end of they year. My IG is btaylor_dg if anyone wants to follow.
Brandon Taylor is one of our most active players of Tribe. He is out competing on the course in multiple events each month. Just this year he has played in total of 26 tournaments, honing his skill and gaining experience, and he has many more events to come.
This October, Brandon competed in 4 events, securing top 5 in each of them. On the 2nd he placed 1st in the Burnet Woods C Tier event, shooting 12 under par in the MA3 division. Then again on the 9th he took 1st place at the Crossover OG Open, this time shooting 5 under par and performing 30-40 above his current PDGA rating. At Battle of the Burg, he continued to play consistently, shooting 5 under par. Then to finish off the month at the Crossover Golf Burg Open, he placed 4th for his fourth competition of the month.
Brandon’s comments on the tournaments:
“Each event went really well. My consistency in drives and upshot’s were a huge help with each win. Each event I was averaging 30+ points above my rating. My putting was on point, and I was able to give myself opportunities. When I had opportunities, I was able to take advantage of them and get a birdie.
In the Burnet Woods tournament, I hit the cage off of my drive with a glow Ruru, so that was really cool. Each of the events I played in, I was behind at the start of round two, so coming from behind to win is a highlight in itself in my opinion.
The main challenge I faced was staying focused on what I needed to do. Like I mentioned already, I was playing from behind in the final round of the events. This caused me to try and go for everything so I could gain shots. I was able to realize that by playing my game I was going to gain shots, and I just needed to focus on making the right shot choice.
At the Burnet Woods tournament my Glow Ruru was putting in a lot of work for me off the tee. The course is on the shorter side, so I was throwing this disc a lot. At the OG open I was throwing my Atomic and Glow Pekapeka a lot off the tee. This was a very wooded course, so these controllable fairways were very helpful. At the Battle of the Burg, my Magma soft Tui’s were finding the basket from C1. My putting was the best part of my game this event.”
A great amount of effort, time and dedication displayed by Brandon over the course of this year. We are excited to see how you continues with your Disc Golf career, keep it up Brandon!
