Alek Anderson joined Team RPM Tribe earlier this year and has already made quite the mark. He plays in the Advanced PDGA division and has accomplished a rating of 950+. Over the last two months (October and November) he has played 7 tournaments, bringing him to a total of 15 events this year, and he has yet to play more before the season finishes out! This is the display of hard work and effort that we value in our team members. Great work, Alek!
This October, Alek had quite the success in the three events he played, not to mention the great finish he had in September when he took out first place at Breezy Point Classic with a score of 12 under par. On the 1st of October, he competed at the MFA Fall Championship XXXIV in MA1 to place third, shooting 3 under par. And then on the 22nd of October, he won first place four strokes ahead in the MA1 division with a score of 16 under par. To finish off the month, he took second place in the Last Call at Kenwood, having shot 8 under par in MA1.
Alek’s comments on his September-October tournaments:
“My favorite tournaments are ones that I beat the other competitors not because of mistakes they make, but instead because of the triumphs that I’m able to accomplish throughout my round(s). With that being said, two of my favorite highlights were, first winning the Breezy Point Classic on hole 3 of the three person playoff with an absolutely perfect drive with my Cosmic Kahu (parked under the basket for tap in birdie to take 1st place), and then my biggest accomplishment to date was throwing my first over 1,000 rated round (PDGA ranked 1,008) at Knightmare at Knox. Everything was clicking and I was making great putts after throwing solid drives and upshots!
Maintaining composure in the wind during my second round of “Last Call at Kenwood” was tough. I went into the tournament basically blind and had to change my strategy completely second round to adapt to the ripping wind! Still managed to hold on to a second place finish. I leaned heavily on my Kotuku and Piwakawaka throughout that tourney.
One of my favorite holes is hole 12 at Breezy point DGC because it’s essentially a 210 foot downhill shot with a fairly large gap, but because it’s downhill and there is danger after the basket you want to make sure to be touchy and control the distance well. Both rounds I threw my Magma soft Ruru straight at the basket and took a Birdie each time! Have to take advantage of the must gets! Very pretty hole and a really fun shot no matter what skill level.
My go-to discs? This is a pretty easy question for me and if you ask any of my friends what my favorite RPM disc is the answer is the Piwakwaka! I absolutely love throwing that disc and the shot shaping and distance I’m able to get with it’s glide is incredible! I also lean heavy on the Tui because I’m predominantly a backhand thrower. Absolutely love the shorter turnover lines with the Tui!
Highlight of my casual rounds in September I got my first RPM ace with a Magma Hard Kea! Shorter hole but nonetheless was an amazing moment and I had my wife (Mikayla Anderson also on Team Tribe!) and two great friends to witness it!”
Really impressive results, Alek! We look forward to see more 1,000+ round ratings in the future as you continue to improve your game.

Although I had a pretty amazing end of September and October, I still had a few other tournaments that just mentally drained me because I wasn’t taking advantage of my putts or just wasn’t quite hitting my lines. I think it’s incredibly humbling to have those days where you can take a step back remember that we’re involved in an amazing game and there will be good times and bad. Keep pushing yourself to be the best that you can be, and make the next hole better than the last.
